What is a hair transplant?
A hair transplant is a great treatment that helps restore hair growth to some parts of your scalp. A surgeon moves hair from the back or side of the head where you have hair growth and move it to areas of the scalp with no hair. Hair transplants typically occur in a medical office under local anesthesia. There are couple ways a hair transplant can be done…
First hair transplant option is FUT – Follicular Unit Transplantation. When the hair is extracted from the donor area this is done in a rather large strip. Grafts of hair are then taken out individually and implanted into the balding area of the scalp. FUT commonly leaves a scar across the donor area known as a strip scar.
Next is the FUE hair transplant – Follicular Unit Extraction. During this process the grafts are removed individually with a special tool. Once removed the grafts are implanted into the areas of hair loss on the scalp. FUE hair transplants often leave numerous tiny circular scars across the donor area.
